Schools day outline

The day begins with arrival in Stanmer Park and a short walk through the countryside to Stanmer Organics and Earthship Brighton (direct access by car is possible for any special mobility needs).

The pupils are split into groups of between 15 to 25 students and then rotate around four activities either in the Earthship or in the surrounding area.  Fewer activities can be run for smaller groups.  A leader from the Low Carbon Trust or other organizations run each 30-45 minutes long activity with the help of the groups' own adult helpers.  They participate in two activities (with a tiny break in between), before stopping for a picnic lunch in the meadow (alternatively the Earthship or the yurt can be used in bad weather).

Typical timetable:

  • 9:30am: Arrival at Stanmer Park
  • 10am: Activity 1
  • 11am: Activity 2
  • 12pm: Lunch
  • 12:30pm: Activity 3
