Renewable energy - power from nature
At present, renewable energy is a vastly untapped resource in the UK. The Earthship demonstrates that there are many useful, efficient renewable technologies that could be employed now to generate low carbon hot water and electricity in our homes and work places.
Earthship Brighton uses energy that flows freely and abundantly from nature for space heating, water heating and electricity. Effectively for these activities the earthship is zero carbon and there are no utility bills. There are 20kW of four renewable technologies: photo-voltaic panels and a wind turbine for electricity and solar thermal panels and a wood pellet stove for water heating.
These hybrid systems enable us to cover a wide range of intermittent renewable energy sources available during different seasons and provide power whatever the weather. This is how Earthship Brighton generates all its power from sustainable and renewable sources.
